Much has been written about Pankaj Kapur’s directorial debut Mausam, starring his son Shahid Kapoor and actor Sonam Kapoor, but the story of the
film is still strictly under wraps. Though it was reported that in the movie, Shahid and Sonam play characters who age from 20 years to 40 years,Sonam
rubbishes the story.
“That’s half-baked news,” says Sonam. “My character in the movie is not that of a ‘mature
woman’, as reported. I very much play a girl of my age, though her character’s unlike anything I have played earlier. My look is
certainly different in the film but it’s not at all ‘old’.”
Sonam, who is currently touring India to promote her film
Aisha, which releases on Friday, has spent the last two months shooting for Mausam in Scotland, where she has been “cut off from the gossip in
India”. “I really enjoyed being in my own space in Scotland. It was a tough shoot and I hardly had the time to relax between shots, but I
can’t complain because it’s the role of a lifetime.”
Not willing to divulge much about her role, Sonam says that Mausam is a
“classical love story.” “It’s a sensitive, simple and intensely romantic love story. I can’t thank Mr Pankaj Kapur for
casting me on a whim for this role, though he had auditioned a number of girls. It’s a very challenging role, and I actually cried the first
time I read the script.”
Apart from Aisha and Mausam, Sonam only has Anees Bazmee’s Thank You on her hands but ask her why she
hasn’t signed any other scripts and she laughs, “Aren’t three movies enough? I am having trouble dividing my time between these, so
I can’t afford to take on more work right now.”

I live in the US and have not watched many foreign movies but, I have become an addict. The movie Vivah there are no words to describe how that movie moved me. It was so beauitfully written. The actors were wonderful, you believed the story completely. The culture and traditions of India were so beautifully portrayed. The Music alone grabbed me right from the start. I loved the beauty of thesse films. I haave watched so many of these films lately that my husband said I was becoming obsessed lol. I have fallen in love with Indian Films. I have 2 favorite actors as of right now, Shahid Kapoor, His performance in Kaminey, unbelievable!!!! I usually dont watch films like that because they don"t interest me but again I loved that movie he is a very good actor doesn't hurt that he is attractive. Shahrukh Khan I adore him, He is a great actor, I really enjoy both their acting styles. They both seem to get me involed in the movie on a personal level, that they can move me to that degree is what I love about their films. Lets just say that I haave watched all the films that both these actors have out right now and haave enjoyed each one. I could write more about these actors and how they portray India. Maybe I will come back and write again.
