"The biggest USP of #Mausam is that it aims at narrating a unique journey" - Shahid

With Shahid Kapoor sporting a moustache in his latest film, Mausam can easily be termed as his first mature performance. The biggest USP of the film is that it aims at narrating a unique journey — transition from a fun-loving to a serious atmosphere, with Shahid Kapoor as the lead character.

And the change is not only in the atmosphere but also among various relationships among the characters. The story allows the actor to start as an innocent, 18-year-old boy who then grows up to be a matured man with his becoming an Air Force officer.

Have you grown as a matured lover in your real life too like you have in the film?
In that respect, I have been mature since childhood (Laughs). All the women I have dated have told me that I am a very mature and responsible person.

So, does your love story have a happy ending in the film?
In the film I have a very happy love story and there is no sad ending to it. Mausam is not just an ordinary film; it is a different film with its own world and has a unique storyline to convey. I feel the romantic song from the film Rabba main toh mar gaya represents the world of Mausam beautiful in its true light.

How was the experience of flying an F16 fighter plane?
It is an experience which I can’t explain in words. Certainly a memory that I will take to my grave. I mean, not everybody gets to fly an F16. Before the shooting of the film, I was never fond of flying or sitting in a plane but after flying an F16 all my inhibitions too flew out of the window. It’s not like your normal plane where you get royal treatment and have people around you taking care of your whims and fancies. It’s a small plane were you have 500 buttons and an oxygen mask.

You are doing another film with Priyanka Chopra that is directed by Kunal Kohli?
I can’t divulge into the details. I would only say that in that film I have three different characters and one of the character is called Krish.

What are some of your fondest memories from school or college that your fans aren’t aware of? .
I was one of the four pillars of the class — whenever there was some punishment meted out in class, one of us would definitely be involved. I stayed a lot with my grandparents. I was quite a naughty kid and when I did some mischief I would be locked in the bathroom.
