Shahid Kapoor reconnects with neighbours
|
Everyone knows that Shahid Kapoor is a big star today and charges several crore for a film or endorsement. However, few people are aware of his extra humble beginnings - he once stayed in a tenement in Andheri’s MHADA colony. Last week Shahid visited a small studio in the same locality and it was quite literally a walk down memory lane for him.
Shahid’s close companion Mamu, who has known his family for decades, was accompanying him when Shahid reached the area. He informed all of the actor’s old friends who live nearby, and they gathered at the studio to meet Shahid. Needless to say, it was an emotional moment for Shahid as well as Mamu.

Who made Shahid feel old?
|
Shahid Kapoor was rehearsing for a performance at Film City the other day when he spotted a dancer in his troupe doing some brilliant moves.
Post the performance, Shahid asked the boy where he’d learned dancing. To the actor’s utter surprise the young boy told him that Shahid was his teacher! Shahid was clearly taken aback with this smart comeback from the boy.
The boy then reminded Shahid that he was as high as Shahid’s waist at the classes, with curly hair and a thin frame ... and also showed Shahid his own signature move! It was then that Shahid remembered the little boy of 12 who eight years later, is nearly 20, and a full-fledged dancer. Shahid also went into the crowd and met the boy’s mum and told her how at 28 he felt old, seeing a kid he had taught grow up to become such an awesome dancer. Unlike his heroines, Shahid is at least ready to admit his age.

Shah Rukh Khan knows what to say when he gets awards. At a time when the industry is going gaga over Aamir’s 3 idiots the King Khan went up the stage to accept the best actor’s award for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi at the Apsara Awards.
A pleasantly surprised SRK admitted that he has thought he was done with the film and he would not be in any awards show this year because he had no noteworthy films in 2009. “I thought I was over and done with Rab Ne as I didn’t know that the yearly circle for Apsara Awards was November to November.

Finally, here is a Hollywood film that is being accused of being a rip-off of a Bollywood flick. Directed by Anand Tucker, the film Leap Year is an out an out copy of Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met and stars Amy Adams, Matthew Goode and Adam Scott .
And this is no loose speculation as the 'Leap Year' synopsis on the Universal Film news homepage clearly states: 'The film is loosely based on Jab We Met, a 2007 Bollywood film.'
As per sources, Tucker had become an immediate fan of 'Jab We Met' and had decided to make a foreign copy of the film set in Ireland.

Shahid’s hairy tails!
|
When Shahid Kapoor’s Charlie avatar hit the theatres, it was not just his sexy bare bod that became a rage... but also his longish hair that took the fancy of the girls and guys alike.
Since then, Shahid has moved on to a really short crop that he is now maintaining for Parmeet Sethi’s next film. But his hairstylist is a busy woman thanks to Shahid’s hair... no, we are not talking about her maintaining his hair, but handling demands for giving Shahid’s hairstyle to others! “I used to get requests from people since his Kismet Konnection days for the ‘SK haircut’, but with Kaminey the demand for ‘Charlie hair’ suddenly exploded and people from places as far as Chandigarh, Indore and Delhi wanted his style,” exclaims Dilshad Pastakia. “Now that he has changed his hair again, the new short crop is just as popular, especially with the 17 to 22 year olds who like to stay trendy.” For those who came in late, Shahid Kapoor shares his hairstylist with Shah Rukh Khan.

First among equals
|
When Shahid Kapoor booked the car he had been wanting to book all these years, he didn't realize that he was actually the first customer of the Range Rover in India. The realisation dawned upon him when he got a call from a senior official of Tata Motors that he is the first one of book it in India.
"He has been driving his Mercedes for too long now. He has always been telling that he wants to own a Jaguar but he didn't want to import the car because he didn't want to let anybody make an issue out of it," says a close friend of the star, indicating the earlier exposure of the Range Rover importing racket scandal that hit several Bollywood stars including Sushmita Sen. After Tata Motors declared that they are importing the car in India, sources say that they immediately received thousands application from all over the country. Interestingly, Shahid Kapoor was the first customer for the Tatas. "It was such an honour receiving the keys of my car from Ratan Tata. When I was booking the car, I was really not aware that that I am the first. He (Ratan Tata) also congratulated me for being his first customer. This car will always be special to me not only because I always wanted to own a Range Rover but because I was the first one in India to drive it home and it was Ratan Tata who gave the keys to me. I am so so proud," said Shahid, right after taking the car keys from Ratan Tata.
